OUR MEANING

At Lacuna, you’ll find a beautiful collection of country, state, and continent map-shaped necklaces available in three stunning colors. Each piece is thoughtfully designed to resonate with who you are, where you come from, and how far you’ve come.

The Latin word Lacuna means “a space without filling; a gap or void.” Our hope is that through our jewelry, you can recognize a part of yourself and symbolically “fill” that space — honoring your journey, your roots, and your growth.

You receive more than just a piece of jewelry — you receive something that speaks to your story, your identity, and your love for the places that shaped you.

MEET THE HEART BEHIND LACUNA

Hi, I’m Pamela, the founder and owner of Lacuna Accessories. The idea for my business began to take shape during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, and I officially launched in December of that year.

WHAT INSPIRED ME TO START LACUNA?

Well… my roots run deep in Córdoba, Argentina — where my dad is from and where my mom grew up. Although I was born and raised in the United States, our home was always rich with Argentine culture, language, and tradition. I grew up speaking Castellano (a dialect of Spanish) and English, and my childhood was filled with traditional dances, family trips, cultural customs, and lots of homemade meals — and yes, I drink mate!

Thanks to my parents, I developed a deep love and appreciation for where I come from — both American and Argentine. Two cultures, two identities, one heart. I wanted to create something small, unique, and delicate that could represent that love — something I could wear every day and feel connected to who I am and where I come from.

WHY THE NAME LACUNA?

When I came across the word Lacuna — a Latin word meaning a space or range without padding; a hole. That one word captured everything I felt and wanted to transmit: a longing for connection, for home, for something meaningful.

What started with just 6 countries and little hope as I was not sure others would connect with what I was creating, has now grown into over 50 locations — and counting. I never imagined so many would resonate with this vision. Being able to bring a piece of home, a memory, or a sentimental feeling to each of my customers is truly an indescribable joy.
